The ADA recommends a visit to a dentist every 6 months. Whether you’re coming to see us for a routine cleaning, a toothache, filling, or crown we here at Coastal Dental have you covered.
When tooth decay - the destruction of the tooth enamel caused by the acids released by bacteria on the tooth - creates a cavity, a filling is needed. With tooth-colored fillings, getting a cavity doesn’t have to affect your smile. Quick and strong, getting a cavity filled is easy and low-hassle with no need for mercury fillings anymore.
Inlays and onlays are sometimes referred to as partial crowns. Where a crown covers the whole tooth, inlays/onlays only cover a portion of a damaged tooth. With the existing tooth as a strong foundation, the inlay or onlay is fitted onto the tooth to restore its shape and prevent further damage. Your tooth will look natural and you or anyone else won't be able to tell the difference.
Crowns are used to cap, or cover a tooth that may be chipped, misshaped, or has a large filling. Crowns not only protect the tooth and strengthen it, but a crown also fits in with your natural teeth and can even be used cosmetically to improve your smile.
Dental bridges are a great way to replace missing teeth. Your existing teeth are used to literally create a bridge to cross the area where your tooth is missing. The bridge consists of two crowns on either end that stabilize the bridge and keep it in place.
Dentures are a replacement for missing teeth. Complete dentures are used when all teeth are missing and custom made for your mouth in shape, size, and color. Partial dentures are similar to a bridge, but it is not a permanent fixture in your mouth. Rather, they can be removed at will and are cared for like complete dentures. Dentures can return your ability to speak, eat, and smile with confidence.
